BEST GARLIC TOAST (QUICK & EASY!)

BEST Garlic Toast (Quick & Easy!) image

Here's the very best garlic toast you'll find! Ultra garlicky, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside: and it takes only 10 minutes to make.

Categories     Side Dish

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 small round slices of a large baguette or Italian bread (homemade or store bought)*
2 cloves garlic (2 teaspoons finely minced)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Garlic powder, for sprinkling
Finely chopped Italian parsley, for the garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Thinly slice the bread.
  • Mince the garlic. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic with the olive oil, dried oregano, and salt. Use a brush to brush the mixture on both sides of each slice of bread and place them onto a baking sheet. Try to pick up some of the minced garlic with the brush, as it tends to sink to the bottom. (If the oil runs out, depending on your size of bread, just add a splash more to the bowl with the garlic.)
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder to the top of each toast.
  • Bake for 5 minutes until the crust is crisp but the inside is still soft. If desired, sprinkle with finely chopped Italian parsley. Enjoy immediately.

Time 20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb spaghetti, pasta (uncooked)
3 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup reserved pasta water
7 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
4 tablespoons fresh minced garlic, divided
1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
salt and black pepper

Steps:

  • Bring about 5 quarts of water to a boil with 3 teaspoons salt; add in the spaghetti and cook only until firm-tender; drain but RESERVE 1/2 cup pasta water.
  • Start this when you are boiling the pasta; Heat about 4 tablespoons olive oil over medium-low heat in a skillet.
  • Add in 3 tablespoons garlic and about 1/2 teaspoon salt with black pepper to taste; saute stirring often until the garlic is light brown (about 6-8 minutes) remove from heat and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon minced garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, parsley, lemon juice and about 2 tablespoons of pasta cooking water; mix to combine.
  • Transfer the drained pasta to a large serving bowl; toss with remaining 3 tablespoons olive oil and the remaining reserved cooking water.
  • Add in the garlic mixture; toss well to combine.
  • Season with more black pepper and salt to taste if desired.
  • Serve immediately with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Delicious!

Tips:

  • Choose the right oil: Different oils have different smoke points. For frying, use an oil with a high smoke point, such as avocado oil, grapeseed oil, or canola oil. For drizzling or finishing dishes, you can use a more flavorful oil, such as olive oil or sesame oil.
  • Use fresh garlic: Fresh garlic has a more intense flavor than garlic powder, so you'll need less of it. If you don't have fresh garlic on hand, you can use garlic powder, but be sure to use half the amount.
  • Don't burn the garlic: Garlic burns easily, so be careful not to cook it over high heat for too long. If the garlic starts to brown, remove it from the heat immediately.
  • Add garlic at the right time: When you add garlic to a dish will affect its flavor. If you want a more subtle flavor, add the garlic towards the end of cooking. If you want a more pronounced flavor, add the garlic at the beginning of cooking.
  • Experiment with different flavors: Garlic powder is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes. Try adding it to soups, stews, stir-fries, pasta dishes, and even desserts.

Conclusion:

Garlic powder oil is a delicious and easy way to add garlic flavor to your dishes. It's also a great way to use up leftover garlic cloves. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make your own garlic powder oil at home. So next time you're looking for a way to add some extra flavor to your food, reach for the garlic powder oil.
