Provided by Taste of Home

Categories     Dinner

Time 20m

Yield 4-6 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
1 cup sliced celery
2 to 3 garlic cloves, minced
6 cups cold cooked rice
1 cup diced fully cooked ham
1 to 2 cups chopped leftover Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken or cooked chicken
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Steps:

  • In a large skillet or wok, scramble egg in 1 tablespoon oil, breaking into small pieces. Remove from skillet and set aside. Add remaining oil to skillet; stir-fry celery and garlic over medium-high heat until crisp-tender. Add rice; cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Stir in ham, chicken, soy sauce, pepper, ginger and egg; heat through.

Nutrition Facts :

Tips:

  • Use fresh garlic. Fresh garlic has a more intense flavor than garlic powder or garlic salt.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you overcrowd the pan, the chicken will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the chicken over medium-high heat. This will help to create a nice sear on the outside of the chicken.
  • Use a flavorful rice. A flavorful rice, such as basmati or jasmine rice, will help to complement the chicken.
  • Add vegetables to the rice. Vegetables, such as broccoli, carrots, or peas, will add color and nutrients to the dish.
  • Serve the chicken and rice with a simple sauce. A simple sauce, such as a soy sauce or teriyaki sauce, will help to bring all the flavors together.

Conclusion:

Garlic chicken on rice is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a flavorful and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
