Nonstick cooking spray, for the baking sheet
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into small cubes and chilled
1 1/2 cups freshly grated sharp Cheddar
2 tablespoons minced fresh curly parsley
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
Flakey sea salt, such as Maldon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder and salt in a large bowl. Add butter to mixture and use a pastry cutter or two knives to blend until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Stir in cheese and parsley. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.

1 1/4 c shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c margarine, softened
1 1/2 c whole wheat flour
1 to 4 cloves of garlic, minced
dash(es) salt
6 to 8 Tbsp milk

Steps:

  • 1. Beat the cheese and margarine in a mixing bowl. Add the flour, garlic and salt; mix well. Add enough milk to form a stiff dough. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • 2. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with a bone shaped cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375* for 15-20 minutes or until edges are golden brown. My oven takes 15 minutes...all ovens are different. Remove to wire racks to cool. Biscuits will harden as they cool.

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 -6 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F
  • Combine flour, cheese, garlic and vegetable oil in food processor.
  • Cover and process to a coarse meal.
  • With machine running, slowly add water until mixture forms a ball.
  • Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll out each piece to 1/2" thickness.
  • Cut out bone shape using a cookie cutter or cardboard template.
  • Transfer to ungreased cookie sheet.

1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup melted butter or 3/4 cup margarine
1 cup milk

1/2-1 teaspoon garlic salt, depends on your taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
