Time 35m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

One 8-ounce crescent dough sheet, such as Pillsbury
1/2 cup shredded "supermarket" mozzarella
4 tablespoons salted butter, melted
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
1 tablespoon pesto (store-bought or homemade)
2 garlic cloves, pressed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Unroll the crescent sheet on a clean cutting board.
  • Mix together the mozzarella, butter, Parmesan, pesto and garlic in small bowl or pitcher until mixed well. Reserve two tablespoons of the mixture and set aside. Spoon the remaining garlic-butter mixture over the crescent dough sheet, spreading to the edges. Starting with one of the long sides, roll the dough tightly, as if you were rolling cinnamon roll dough. Pinch closed and place seam-side down.
  • Slice the dough into 12 even pieces and transfer them to the lined sheet pan, spacing them evenly. Spoon 1 teaspoon of the remaining garlic butter on top of each roll. Bake until golden, about 12 minutes.
  • Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes, then serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Always use fresh garlic and herbs for the best flavor. Grating the garlic instead of mincing it helps release more of its flavor.
  • Let the dough rise properly: This will help the pinwheels to be light and fluffy. If you don't have time to let the dough rise for the full hour, you can let it rise for a shorter amount of time, but the pinwheels won't be as fluffy.
  • Roll the dough out thinly: This will help the pinwheels to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If the dough is too thick, the pinwheels will be doughy.
  • Don't overfill the pinwheels: If you overfill them, they will be difficult to roll up and they will burst open when they are baking. It is better to err on the side of caution and underfill the pinwheels.
  • Bake the pinwheels until they are golden brown: This will help them to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If you underbake the pinwheels, they will be doughy.

Conclusion:

Garlic bread pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and crispy snack that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give garlic bread pinwheels a try. You won't be disappointed!
