Steps:
- 1. Combine all dry ingredients together in bowl and mix well.
- 2. Add beer (I used it cold, right from the fridge) and mix well with a wooden spoon. The dough will be "tacky" or "sticky".
- 3. Pour into a greased loaf pan or 2 qt round casserole dish.
- 4. Brush melted butter over the top of the dough.
- 5. Place immediately into a preheated 375 F deg oven and bake for 50 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
Tips
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. This promotes even mixing and a well-risen loaf.
- For added flavor, use a dark beer that complements the garlic, such as a stout or porter.
- Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place until it has doubled in size. This typically takes about 1-2 hours.
- When baking, place the loaf in the center of the oven to ensure even cooking. Rotating the loaf halfway through baking ensures an even crust.
- To test if the bread is done, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the bread is ready.
Conclusion
Garlic beer bread is an easy-to-make and versatile bread perfect for beginners and experienced bakers. Its combination of garlic, herbs, and beer creates a flavorful and aromatic loaf that is perfect for sandwiches, toast, or dipping in soups and stews.
