  • 3. In a bowl, combine the butter, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and poppy seeds. Pour over the tops of the sandwiches. Cover the dish with foil. Allow to sit and soak up the sauce on the counter for about 15 minutes.

  • 5. Uncover and bake for 5 more minutes or until lightly browned. The cheese will be melted and ooey gooey and they are yummy! Double the recipe if you are making for a larger party or crowd!

Tips:

  • Choose the right bread: For a classic funeral sandwich, use white sandwich bread. However, you can also use other types of bread, such as wheat bread, rye bread, or even croissants.
  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the sandwich will be. Use fresh vegetables, high-quality cheese, and thinly sliced meat.
  • Don't overstuff the sandwich: A funeral sandwich should be easy to eat, so don't overload it with ingredients. Aim for a sandwich that is about 1-inch thick.
  • Dress the sandwich to your liking: Add your favorite condiments, such as mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup. You can also add a slice of tomato, onion, or pickle.
  • Serve the sandwich immediately: Funeral sandwiches are best served fresh. If you're making them ahead of time, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Conclusion:

Funeral sandwiches are a classic comfort food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're perfect for potlucks, picnics, or any other gathering. With a few simple tips, you can make funeral sandwiches that are both delicious and easy to prepare. So next time you're looking for a simple and satisfying meal, give funeral sandwiches a try.
