ITALIAN BAKED MEATBALLS

Italian Baked Meatballs image

This recipe makes the most tender and tasty meatballs. I also freeze these meatballs and take out how many servings I need for each meal. If cooking in sauce, add baked meatballs 20 minutes before serving time.

FULL OF FLAVOR OVEN MEATBALLS

Full of Flavor Oven Meatballs image

I think store bought frozen meatballs taste like you're eating sponges with sauce on top. So here is my basic meatball that will go with any sauce you want to cover them in. Very moist and flavorful.

Time 1h

Yield 70-80 meatballs, 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground beef
1 lb lean ground turkey
1 lb ground pork
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup frozen chopped onions
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons steak seasoning
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degree farenheit.
  • In a saute pan heat the oil then add the mushrooms and onions. Saute until onions are very tender. Then let cool.
  • When onions and mushrooms are cool almost to room temperature put them in a deep cup and use a stick blender to puree them into a fine paste. Or you could use your regular blender or even a food processor for this.
  • In a large bowl mix the 3 meats thoroughly, when combined add remaining ingredients, including the onion mushroom paste.
  • Mix until well combined (I use my hands for this part).
  • Shape into 1 to 1 1/2 inch size balls and line them up on an ungreased baking sheet. (It's ok for them to be almost touching).
  • Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes.
  • This will usually be enough for me to use half of them for a spaghetti meal to serve 6-8, and to put the other half in the freezer for a quick meal another time.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use a combination of ground meats. This will give your meatballs a more complex flavor and texture. I like to use a mixture of ground beef, ground pork, and ground veal.
  • Don't overmix the meatball mixture. Overmixing will make the meatballs tough. Just mix the ingredients until they are well combined.
  • Season the meatball mixture generously. Meatballs are a great way to use up leftover herbs and spices. I like to add garlic, onion, parsley, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to my meatball mixture.
  • Use a large baking dish. This will give the meatballs plenty of room to cook without overcrowding. You can also line the baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Bake the meatballs at a high temperature. This will help them to brown quickly and evenly. I like to bake my meatballs at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sauce. Meatballs are delicious served with tomato sauce, marinara sauce, or even just a simple olive oil and garlic sauce.

Conclusion:

These oven-baked meatballs are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They're perfect for a party or a weeknight dinner. With a few simple tips, you can make the best oven-baked meatballs that are juicy, flavorful, and sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
