Tips:

  • To make the perfect pie crust, use a food processor to pulse the butter and flour together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Then, add ice water one tablespoon at a time, pulsing until the dough just comes together. Do not overwork the dough, or it will become tough.
  • When rolling out the dough, be sure to flour your work surface and rolling pin to prevent the dough from sticking. If the dough becomes too sticky, chill it for 30 minutes before rolling it out again.
  • To ensure that the bottom crust is golden brown and crispy, pre-bake it for 10-12 minutes before adding the filling.
  • When making the filling, use a variety of fruits and nuts for a delicious and flavorful pie. You can also add spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, to enhance the flavor of the filling.
  • To prevent the pie from boiling over, place a baking sheet under the pie plate before baking. This will catch any juices that bubble over.

Conclusion:

With its flaky crust, sweet fruit filling, and rich streusel topping, the Fort Knox Pie is a classic dessert that is sure to please everyone. Follow these tips and you'll be able to make a delicious and beautiful Fort Knox Pie that will be the star of any gathering.
