Categories     Frozen Desserts

Time 18m

Yield 1 dozen pops

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 cup cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk or 3 cups half-and-half
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips
vegetable oil cooking spray, for plastic cups
12 disposable plastic cups (3-oz)
12 wooden popsicle sticks

Steps:

  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the cornstarch and salt.
  • Gradually stir in milk (I prefer 1 cup half and half mixed with 2 cups whipping cream, so bottom of the pot will not scorch).
  • Stir in corn syrup and vanilla.
  • Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1 min, or until thickened.
  • Reduce heat, stir in the milk chocolate chips until melted.
  • Pour in to cups (sprayed lightly with vegetable spray, I like Pam spray).
  • Cover each cup with heavy-duty foil; insert sticks through foil.
  • Place in a 13 x 9-in pan.
  • Freeze until firm.
  • Remove foil and cups before serving.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of molds: You can use popsicle molds, ice cube trays, or even small paper cups to make your fudge pops. If you're using popsicle molds, make sure they have a drip guard to prevent the fudge from dripping down the stick.
  • Make sure the fudge is thick enough: The fudge should be thick enough to hold its shape when you pour it into the molds. If the fudge is too thin, it will be difficult to get the pops out of the molds and they may not hold their shape.
  • Freeze the fudge pops for at least 4 hours: The fudge pops need to be frozen for at least 4 hours before you can enjoy them. If you freeze them for longer, they will be even more delicious.
  • Dip the fudge pops in chocolate: Once the fudge pops are frozen, you can dip them in chocolate for an extra layer of flavor. To do this, melt some chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. Then, dip the fudge pops in the melted chocolate and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Let the chocolate harden before enjoying the fudge pops.

Conclusion:

Frozen fudge pops are a delicious and refreshing treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a variety of flavors and toppings to choose from, there's a frozen fudge pop for everyone. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, reach for a frozen fudge pop and enjoy!
