Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine raisins and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat, add butter; cool to lukewarm.

2 cups chopped celery
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup butter, cubed, divided
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 package (14 ounces) crushed herb-seasoned stuffing
4 medium tart apples, peeled and chopped
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups chicken broth
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring raisins and 1 cup orange juice to a boil. Remove from the heat; set aside (do not drain). In a skillet, saute celery and onion in 1/2 cup butter until tender. Transfer to a large bowl. In the same skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add the sausage, stuffing, apples, pecans, remaining orange juice and reserved raisins to celery mixture. In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter; add broth, thyme and pepper. 1 cup coffee (weak or strong) or 1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening or 1/3 cup oleo
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon clove
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons oleo
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 pinch salt
enough warm coffee to make frosting spreadable on warm cookie

Steps:

  • Combine the liquid ingredients in pot, Bring to boil, boil 5 minutes, then let cool.
  • Combine the dry ingredients.
  • Mix dry ingredients with cooled ingredients.
  • Spread in greased floured 11 x 15 pan.
  • If batter is too thick, thin with sherry or rum or water before spreading.
