Tips:

  • Choose the right pickles: Use small, firm pickles that will hold their shape when fried. Gherkins or dill pickles are good options.
  • Slice the pickles evenly: This will help them cook evenly. Use a sharp knife to slice the pickles into 1/4-inch thick coins.
  • Soak the pickles in buttermilk: This will help to tenderize the pickles and give them a slightly tangy flavor. Soak the pickles in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Coat the pickles in flour: This will help to create a crispy coating on the pickles. Dredge the pickles in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Fry the pickles in hot oil: Use a deep fryer or a large saucepan filled with oil. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry the pickles in small batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Drain the pickles on paper towels: This will help to remove any excess oil from the pickles.
