Tips

  • Choose the right apples. Not all apples are created equal when it comes to frying. Some varieties, like Granny Smith, hold their shape well and won't turn to mush when cooked. Others, like Red Delicious, are more prone to breaking down.
  • Slice the apples evenly. This will help them cook evenly. If the apple slices are too thick, they will take longer to cook and may not get as tender as you like. If they are too thin, they may fall apart.
  • Use a cast iron skillet. A cast iron skillet is the best choice for frying apples because it distributes heat evenly and can withstand high temperatures. If you don't have a cast iron skillet, you can use a nonstick skillet, but be sure to grease it well to prevent the apples from sticking.
  • Cook the apples over medium heat. This will help them cook through without burning. If you cook the apples over too high heat, they may brown too quickly on the outside but remain raw on the inside.
  • Stir the apples frequently. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the skillet.
  • Add the bacon to the skillet. Once the apples are cooked through, add the bacon to the skillet and cook until it is crisp.
  • Serve the apples and bacon immediately. They are best served warm, right out of the skillet.

Conclusion

Fried apples with bacon is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover apples. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a dish that is sure to please everyone at the table.
