FRESH APPLE COOKIES/BARS

Fresh Apple Cookies/Bars image

I have had this recipe in my file for a number of years, I don't know the origin. My family loves the flavor but the cookies are hard to make and handle so I turned it into bars. The bars are much easier to make and handle. We most often omit the glaze because it can be too sweet; although powdered sugar sprinkled on the cooled bars would dress them up for guests.

  • Cut while barely warm.

Tips for Baking Perfect Fresh Apple Cookies:

- Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all great choices. - Peel and core the apples before grating them. This will help to prevent the cookies from becoming too mushy. - Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the cookies tough. - Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies to hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much. - Bake the cookies at a high temperature for a short amount of time. This will help to create a crispy exterior and a soft and chewy interior. - Let the cookies cool completely before serving. This will help them to set and develop their full flavor.

Conclusion:

Fresh apple cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. By following these tips, you can make sure that your cookies turn out perfect every time. So preheat your oven and get started! Your taste buds will thank you.
