FRESH APPLE COOKIES/BARS
I have had this recipe in my file for a number of years, I don't know the origin. My family loves the flavor but the cookies are hard to make and handle so I turned it into bars. The bars are much easier to make and handle. We most often omit the glaze because it can be too sweet; although powdered sugar sprinkled on the cooled bars would dress them up for guests.

FRESH APPLE PIE BARS
This is my Grandma Anderson's famous Apple Bar Recipe. My father's favorite! He even has me make them when I visit and freezes them to eat through out the year!

FRESH APPLE BARS
I came up with this recipe by changing a fresh apple cake recipe that I had into bars. Autumn is in the air and this is the perfect recipe to bring it in. The bars are so moist and the combination of Fiji and Granny Smith apples make it so delicious. This is my new favorite recipe for fall celebrations. I hope you enjoy it.

Steps:
- 1. In a large bowl mix the oil and sugar with an electric mixer.
- 2. Add the eggs and mix.
- 3. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients. Mix together.
- 4. Gently fold on the apples, vanilla and walnuts by hand.
- 5. Bake in a 9x13 pan that has been sprayed with Bakers Joy or grease and flour. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes at 325. The cake is done when a toothpick is inserted and comes out clean. Completely cool the cake before it is covered. You can cut into bars once it is cooled.
Tips:
- Choose Crisp Apples: Use firm, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best texture.
- Prepare Apples Properly: Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples for even baking and a tender-crisp texture.
- Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough texture. Mix until just combined.
- Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps prevent spreading and ensures the layers stay distinct.
- Bake Until Golden: Bake the bars until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool Completely: Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting and serving. This helps them set and hold their shape.
