FRENCH-TOASTED BUNS

Categories     Breakfast     Vegetarian

Yield 6 Servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
6 day-old hamburger buns, split
1 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup chopped dried fruits

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the first six ingredients; mix well. Dip both sides of each bun in egg mixture. Cook on a greased hot griddle until golden brown on both sides. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the syrup and dried fruit; cook over medium heat until heated through. Serve with French-toasted buns.

Tips:

  • Use stale buns for the best results. Fresh buns will not soak up the egg mixture as well and will be more likely to fall apart.
  • If you don't have any stale buns, you can toast them in the oven for a few minutes to dry them out.
  • Use a shallow dish for dipping the buns in the egg mixture. This will help to prevent the buns from getting too soggy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the buns. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Cook the buns over medium heat until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the buns immediately with your favorite toppings, such as butter, syrup, or fruit.

Conclusion:

French toasted buns are a delicious and easy breakfast or brunch recipe. They are perfect for using up stale buns and can be made in just a few minutes. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you have some leftover buns, don't throw them away! Make French toasted buns instead.
