Number Of Ingredients 11

1 loaf crusty french bread
1 tablespoon(s) canola oil
1 pound(s) beef steak cut into small strips
2 cloves garlic minced
2 tablespoon(s) soy sauce
2 teaspoon(s) sriracha hot chili sauce
3 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon(s) fresh ginger
1/3 cup(s) ketchup
1 cup(s) mozzarella shredded
1/2 cup(s) provolone shredded

Steps:

  • Remove top third of the loaf by cutting around the bread several times with a sharp knife. Keep the knife at an angle that goes slightly downward. Remove the insides creating a boat. Try to leave about a half inch of bread all the way around.
  • Add oil to skillet over medium high heat. Add steak and cook until browned and slightly crispy on the edges; approximately 5-7 minutes. If the steak produces any moisture while cooking drain right away. You don't want your steak boiling. You want to almost stir fry it.
  • Reduce heat to low and add garlic and continue cooking for 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, sriracha, Worcestershire sauce, ginger and ketchup. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Spoon beef mixture into French bread boat. Top with cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Turn the broiler on the last minute of cooking just to brown the cheese a touch. Stay close by broilers as broilers are unpredictable

BEEF-STUFFED FRENCH BREAD

This is like a loose meat sandwich. A local drive in diner serves these but they close during the winter. I was thrilled when I found this redcipe in the Taste of Home magazine so that I now can enjoy this sandwich year round.

Provided by á-11135

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 loaf french bread
1 pound lean ground beef
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F Slice the french bread in half, lengthwise, so you have two equal pieces. Scoop out the bread in the center of each piece. Place bread in a large bowl and tear into small chunks. Set the two halves of french bread onto a large baking sheet. Set aside. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet, over medium-high heat. Drain any grease. Add the celery and garlic to skillet. Cook a few minutes until celery is tender. Next, add soup, milk and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Stir and cook mixture until heated; another 5 minutes or so. Add the beef mixture to the bread in the large bowl. Stir to combine. Pour mixture into the center of one-half of the French bread. Spread out evenly. Top the mixture with the shredded cheese. Top with the other half of bread. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your French bread stuffed with beef will taste. Look for fresh, flavorful beef, and use a good quality baguette or bread loaf.
  • Season the beef well: Don't be afraid to season the beef generously. Use a variety of spices and herbs to create a flavorful filling.
  • Cook the beef until it is tender: The beef should be cooked until it is tender, but not overcooked. Overcooked beef will be tough and dry.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese you use will make a big difference in the flavor of your dish. Use a cheese that melts well and has a strong flavor.
  • Don't overstuff the bread: Be careful not to overstuff the bread, or it will be difficult to close and seal. You should be able to fit all of the filling into the bread without it being too tight.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown: The bread should be baked until it is golden brown and crispy. This will help to keep the filling warm and juicy.

Conclusion:

French bread stuffed with beef is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a little planning and effort, you can create a dish that will impress your family and friends.
