6 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
2 green onions, finely chopped
2 teaspoons minced fresh basil or 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 loaf French bread (1 pound)

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cut bread in half lengthwise; spread herb spread on cut sides. , Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
1 (3 1/2 ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 (16 ounce) French bread, sliced in 1 inch slices

Steps:

  • Combine butter and mayonnaise and stir until well combined; stir in the grated cheeses, chives, black olives, garlic salt and pepper.
  • Preheat broiler.
