1 loaf texas toast
7 eggs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
salt, to taste
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180˚C).
  • Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Stack and slice the Texas toast into thirds.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and sugar.
  • Dunk each strip of bread into the mixture, allow the excess to drip off, then place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining strips.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Remove from oven and serve.

4 eggs
1 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
10 slices day-old French bread (3/4 inch thick)
1 to 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Place bread in a well-greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Pour egg mixture over bread. Let soak for several minutes, turning once to coat. Freeze until firm. Package in airtight containers. , To bake, place bread on a well-greased baking sheet. Dot with butter. Bake at 450° for 7 minutes; turn and bake 10-12 minutes longer or until golden brown.

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 eggs
1 c milk
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp grated orange rind
1/4 c orange juice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
8 to 10 slice 3/4" thick day old french bread
melted butter or margarine
confectioners sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Place bread slices on a large jelly roll pan side by side
  • 2. mix first 7 ingredients and pour over bread slices. let sit a couple minutes, turn slices over so they absorb all the egg mixture
  • 3. lay pan in freezer, uncovered until firm. individual slices can then be put in bags and kept frozen until ready to use
  • 4. to prepare, heat oven to 500 degrees. place one or more slices on a greased baking sheet. drizzle or brush slices with melted butter.
  • 5. bake 8 minutes, turn slices, drizzle more butter and bake another 5 to 10 minutes.
  • 6. serve hot with confectioners sugar or your favorite syrup.
