FOURTH OF JULY BEAN CASSEROLE
The outstanding barbecue taste of these beans makes them a favorite for cookouts all summer and into the fall. It's a popular dish, even with kids. The beef makes it so much better than plain pork and beans. -Donna Fancher, Lawrence, Indiana

FOURTH OF JULY BEAN CASSEROLE (TASTE OF HOME)
I have to say this is my favorite baked bean recipe so far. I didn't add the extra sugar or packed brown sugar or the molasses because I thought it was too sweet already. I threw in some spicy mustard to give it more of a kick, but I will post as written. The beef and bacon make plain pork and beans so much better.

- In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; stir into beef and bean mixture.
- Cover and bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for 15 minutes longer.
Tips:
- Choose fresh beans: Fresh beans have a more vibrant color and a firmer texture than canned or frozen beans. If you're using dried beans, soak them overnight before cooking.
- Use a variety of beans: Don't be afraid to mix and match different types of beans in your salad. This will add flavor and texture.
- Cook the beans properly: Beans should be cooked until they are tender but still hold their shape. Overcooked beans will be mushy and bland.
- Add vegetables and herbs: Vegetables and herbs add flavor, color, and texture to bean salads. Some good options include corn, tomatoes, onions, peppers, cilantro, and parsley.
- Use a flavorful dressing: A good dressing can make all the difference in a bean salad. Try a vinaigrette, a creamy dressing, or a tangy dressing made with citrus fruits.
- Serve the salad warm or cold: Bean salads can be served warm or cold. If you're serving the salad warm, let it cool slightly before serving. If you're serving the salad cold, chill it for at least an hour before serving.
Conclusion:
Bean salads are a delicious and healthy way to enjoy beans. They're perfect for summer cookouts, potlucks, or weekday lunches. With so many different variations to choose from, there's sure to be a bean salad that everyone will enjoy.
