Time 25m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup canola oil
2 tablespoons basil, fresh, minced
2 teaspoons rosemary, fresh, minced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450.
  • In large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, oil, basil and rosemary.
  • Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonful 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown.
  • Serve warm.

Tips:

  • Use fresh herbs. Fresh herbs will give your drop biscuits the best flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs, you can use dried herbs, but use only half the amount.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make your drop biscuits tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto the baking sheet. Don't spread the batter out. The biscuits should be about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake the biscuits until they are golden brown. The biscuits should be baked for about 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Serve the biscuits warm. Drop biscuits are best served warm, right out of the oven. You can serve them with butter, honey, or your favorite jam.

Conclusion:

Fluffy herb drop biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that can be served with any meal. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a batch of fluffy herb drop biscuits that your whole family will love.
