- For the marinated steak: Combine the fish sauce, ginger, garlic, honey, lime juice and 1 tablespoon of the sliced scallions in a bowl and whisk to combine. Add the steak and toss well to coat.
- For the stir-fry: Mix the remaining sliced scallions with the garlic and ginger in a small bowl and set aside.
- Heat a large nonstick saute pan or wok over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil and half of the steak. Spread into a single layer and let sear 30 seconds. Toss the meat, spread back out and sear again, another 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Toss once more and remove to a serving dish. Return the pan to the heat until hot. Add another tablespoon vegetable oil and the remaining meat and repeat.
- Return the pan to the heat until hot. Add another tablespoon of oil and half of the reserved garlic, ginger and scallion mixture. Cook the aromatics for about 30 seconds, then add half of the vegetables and cook, adding 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce and about 2 ounces of water to the pan as the vegetables cook, about 4 minutes. Transfer to the serving dish. Wipe out the pan, return to the heat, add the remaining tablespoon oil and repeat with the remaining aromatics, vegetables and soy sauce. (Make sure to reheat the pan completely between batches.)
- Toss the meat and vegetables together in the serving dish and serve with steamed white rice.
FLANK STEAK STIR-FRY WITH ASPARAGUS AND RED PEPPER

- Method 1 While you are chopping the ingredients in preparation, bring a small saucepan of water to boil. Parboil the asparagus pieces for 2 minutes, drain, rinse in cold water, drain, and set aside. If you are planning to serve this dish with rice, in a separate pan, prepare 2 cups of white rice, following the instructions on the rice package. 2 Prepare the All Purpose Stir Fry Sauce by combining the ingredients in a small dish, and set aside. 3 Stir-fry the asparagus in a wok (or a thick-bottomed pan with at least 2" sides that can take high heat) in 1 Tbsp of oil, on high heat, for about 2 minutes until lightly browned. Remove asparagus from pan and set aside. 4 Add another 1 Tbsp of oil to the pan and stir fry the beef strips, in 2 batches, for 2-3 minutes until browned but still pink inside. Return the first batch of beef to the pan and add the bell pepper. Stir and toss over high heat until just beginning to wilt, 1-2 minutes. 5 Quickly stir the cornstarch liquid and add it to the pan along with the stir fry sauce. Cook until sauce thickens, 1-2 minutes. Return the asparagus to the pan, toss to evenly coat and serve with steamed white rice (unless you are going low-carb, in which case, leave out the rice). Serves 4.

- 1. In a small bowl, whisk together broth, soy sauce, vinegar, cornstarch, five-spice powder and red pepper flakes. Set aside. 2. Heat 1 tbsp of the oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok. Season flank steak with salt and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Remove to a plate. Add remaining 1 tbsp oil; add onion, broccoli, green beans and carrot. Stir-fry 8 minutes or until crisp-tender. Add 1/4 cup water during last 2 minutes of cooking time and cover. 3. Add broth and soy sauce mixture; bring to a boil and cook 1 minute, until thickened. Stir in beef and any accumulated juices and heat through. 4. Sprinkle with almonds and serve immediately over cooked brown rice.
