Steps:
- 1. In a large bowl, whisk the first five ingredients together. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in cheese and chives.
- 2. Add buttermilk; stir just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times.
- 3. Pat or roll dough to 3/4-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter or the open end of a small glass. Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 425º oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with melted butter.
Tips:
- Mise en place: Before you start cooking, measure and prepare all of your ingredients. This will make the cooking process much smoother and faster.
- Use cold butter: Cold butter is essential for creating flaky biscuits. If the butter is too warm, it will melt into the flour and the biscuits will be tough.
- Work the dough quickly: Overworking the dough will make the biscuits tough. Work the dough just until it comes together, then stop.
- Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough before baking helps to develop the flavor and makes the biscuits more flaky.
- Bake the biscuits in a hot oven: A hot oven is essential for creating crispy, golden brown biscuits.
Conclusion:
These cheddar chive biscuits are the perfect addition to any meal. They are flaky, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Whether you serve them as a side dish or a snack, these biscuits are sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy recipe, give these cheddar chive biscuits a try. You won't be disappointed!
