Tips:

  • Prepare the cherries: Before using, remove the stems and pits from the cherries. You can use a cherry pitter to make this task easier.
  • Use fresh or dried cherries: This recipe works well with both fresh and dried cherries. If using dried cherries, soak them in warm water for 30 minutes before using to soften them.
  • Choose a heatproof pudding mold: You will need a heatproof pudding mold to cook the pudding. A 1-quart mold is a good size for this recipe.
  • Cover the pudding tightly: When you are cooking the pudding in a steamer, it is important to cover it tightly so that the steam does not escape. This will help the pudding to cook evenly.
  • Do not overcook the pudding: The pudding is done when it has set and is no longer runny. Overcooking will cause the pudding to become dry and crumbly.
  • Serve the pudding warm or cold: Fireside steamed cherry pudding can be served warm or cold. If you are serving it cold, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Conclusion:

Fireside steamed cherry pudding is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The combination of cherries, spices, and suet gives the pudding a unique and delicious flavor. Whether you are serving it warm or cold, this pudding is sure to be a hit.
