Tips for Making Perfect Baked Apples:

  • Choose the Right Apples: Use firm, tart apples such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn. These varieties hold their shape well during baking and provide a nice contrast to the sweet filling.
  • Core the Apples Carefully: Use an apple corer to remove the core, leaving the bottom intact. Be careful not to cut through the bottom of the apple.
  • Stuff the Apples Generously: Fill the apples with your desired filling, pressing it in firmly. You can use a variety of fillings, such as brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, nuts, dried fruits, or even savory ingredients like sausage or cheese.
  • Bake the Apples at the Right Temperature: Bake the apples at 375°F (190°C) for about 45 minutes, or until they are tender but still hold their shape. Check the apples regularly to ensure they don't overcook.
  • Serve the Apples Warm or Cold: Baked apples can be served warm or cold. Serve them with a dollop of whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce for an extra special treat.
