¼ cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons olive oil

Number Of Ingredients 11

½ cup soy sauce (such as Kikkoman®)
¼ cup lime juice
3 cloves garlic, smashed
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon fish sauce
ground black pepper to taste
1 pound beef steak, sliced 1/4-inch thick
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided, or as needed
4 potatoes, cut into wedges
1 large onion, cut into rings
⅛ cup water

Steps:

  • Combine soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, sugar, fish sauce, and pepper in a bowl. Taste and adjust to your liking. Add sliced beef, making sure it is coated evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or pan over medium-high heat. Fry potatoes in the hot oil until the edges turn golden brown, 7 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate.

  • Slide beef and sauce onto a serving plate. Garnish with remaining onion. Place potatoes on the side and serve.

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
1/4 can(s) soy sauce, dark
3 calamansi
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 clove garlic
1 large onions, vidalia, slicrd into rings
3 Tbsp cooking oil
salt to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Marinade beef in soy sauce, calamansi(or use lemon/lime combination), and ground black pepper for at least 1 hour
  • 2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan then stir fry the onion rings until the texture becomes soft. Set aside
  • 3. In the same pan where the onions were fried, fry the marinated beef (without the marinade) until color turns brown. Set aside
  • 4. Put-in the garlic then sauté for a few minutes
  • 5. Pour the marinade and bring to a boil.
  • 6. Put in the fried beef and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until meat is tender. Add water as needed.
  • 7. Add the stir-fried onions and some salt to taste.
  • 8. Serve hot. Share and Enjoy!

Tips:

  • To tenderize the beef, use a meat mallet or the back of a knife to pound it until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Make sure the pan is hot before adding the beef. This will help to sear the meat and prevent it from sticking.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan. If you do, the beef will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the beef for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it is cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Let the beef rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will help to keep the juices in the meat.
  • Serve the beef steak with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Filipino beef steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover steak, and it can be served with a variety of sides. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a special dish for a party, Filipino beef steak is a great option.
