FETA BASIL TURKEY BURGERS

Categories     turkey

Yield 2 burgers

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 lb ground turkey (I used 94% lean ground turkey)
1/4 cup feta cheese crumbles
2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp salt
black pepper

Steps:

  • Using a gentle touch, mix together the ground turkey, feta crumbles, chopped basil, worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper with your fingertips. Make sure not to overwork the meat, just distribute all the fun goodies all throughout the meat. Shape the turkey meat into 2 patties, keeping in mind that the burger will shrink up a bit after it has cooked. Don't make the patties too thick or they'll take too long to cook. Heat up a cast iron skillet over medium heat for a couple minutes (or if you've got a grill, that'd work too). Once the pan is hot, add the turkey patties and cook for about 3 minutes on each side. Time will vary depending on how hot your pan is and how thick your patties are, but you want the center of the turkey burger to read at 165 degrees F. If you find that the burgers are browning too much before the interior is cooking through, you can put a lid on the pan. Serve the turkey burgers with any accompaniments you want, and enjoy!

FETA AND BASIL TURKEY BURGERS

Yield 4 4 oz. burgers

Number Of Ingredients 11

Ingredients
1 pound 93/7 ground turkey
1/3 cup crumbled feta
2 tablespoons white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon panko bread crumbs
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
5 hamburger buns
Basil pesto mayonnaise for topping* (optional)

Steps:

  • Directions In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix until all ingredients are combined. Separate into 5 4oz balls. Roll each ball and using the palms of your hands press down until 1/2 inch thick. Cook burgers on grill or stovetop until thoroughly cooked. Recommended internal temperature should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit. *For Basil pesto mayonnaise take basil pesto (homemade or store bought) and mix with just a little light or regular mayonnaise for a creamy basil pesto mayonnaise. Perfect topping for these burgers!

Tips:

  • Use fresh herbs. Basil is the star of this recipe, so make sure you use fresh leaves for the best flavor.
  • Don't overmix the turkey. Overmixing can make the burgers tough, so mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help prevent them from drying out.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you're cooking multiple burgers, make sure to leave some space between them so that they can cook evenly.
  • Top the burgers with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include feta cheese, avocado, tomato, and onion.

Conclusion:

These feta basil turkey burgers are a healthy and delicious way to enjoy a classic summer meal. They're easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So fire up the grill and give them a try!
