1/4 heaping cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup boiling water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

  • Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Bring butter, eggs, and milk to room temperature before mixing. This helps them incorporate more smoothly and evenly.
  • Don't Overmix: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix only until the ingredients are well combined.
