Tips:

  • Using a variety of cheeses adds flavor and richness to the strata. Try a combination of sharp cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan for a classic flavor profile, or experiment with different cheeses such as goat cheese, fontina, or mozzarella.
  • To make the strata ahead of time, assemble it and refrigerate it overnight. In the morning, let it come to room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
  • If you don't have a bread cube maker, you can cut the bread into 1-inch cubes by hand. Just be sure to cut them evenly so that they cook evenly.
  • For a vegetarian strata, omit the bacon and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. You can also add roasted vegetables, such as broccoli, zucchini, or mushrooms.
  • Serve the strata with a side salad or fruit salad for a complete meal.

Conclusion:

Farmer's strata is a versatile dish that can be tailored to your own preferences. It's a great way to use up leftover vegetables, bread, and cheese, and it's also a delicious and hearty breakfast, brunch, or lunch dish. So next time you're looking for a satisfying and easy-to-make meal, give farmer's strata a try.
