I saw this on the New York Times magazine today (10/17). Fannie Lou is the author's great Aunt. Right now the pie is in the oven, I can't wait. It smells great already.

Tips:

  • Use a pre-made pie crust to save time. If you're short on time or don't have the experience to make your own pie crust, you can use a store-bought one instead. Just be sure to thaw it according to the package instructions before using it.
  • Don't overmix the filling. Overmixing the filling will make it tough. Stir it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the pie in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the crust cooks evenly.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the pie with whipped cream or ice cream. This will add a delicious finishing touch to your dessert.

Conclusion:

Derby Pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich chocolate filling and flaky crust, it's sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give Derby Pie a try. You won't be disappointed.
