FALL PEAR PIE

Fall Pear Pie image

I came across this recipe (can't remember where) and scribbled it on a piece of paper because my husband's favorite fruit is pears. I finally made it for the first time a month ago and he commented that "This is the best pie I have ever tasted!" This time, he even went and bought the pears himself and asked me to make it for him, which means he REALLY likes it. It is great to make in the fall when pears are a plenty. It's a nice change of pace from apple pie. Top it with vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream and devour! I like to use Classic Pie crust, Recipe #26205. It is by far, the BEST pie crust ever. By the way, depending on the size of your pears, you may need more than six. It's best to make sure you have enough filling because the pears cook down and the pie shrinks.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use ripe, juicy pears. Bosc, Anjou, and Bartlett pears are all good choices.
  • Peel and core your pears before slicing them. This will help to prevent the pears from browning and will make it easier to eat the pie.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the pears. This will help to prevent the pears from tearing.
  • Don't overcrowd the pie pan. Leave some space between the pears so that they can cook evenly.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. This usually takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the filling to set and will make the pie easier to slice.

Conclusion:

This fall pear pie recipe is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. It's perfect for a special occasion or a simple weeknight meal. With its flaky crust and sweet, juicy filling, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
