HOT ARTICHOKE AND SPINACH DIP II

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II image

This dip is amazing -- so cheesy and fragrant. If you don't like artichokes, don't worry -- you'll never know they're in there! My only question is: Is it okay to just eat it with a spoon right out of the dish?

EX-GIRLFRIEND'S WARM ARTICHOKE DIP

Ex-girlfriend's Warm Artichoke dip image

This is an easy, delicious starter. It is warm, so especially good for winter get-togethers. I prefer crackers to chips or nachos to serve with the dip. The source is the wife of a friend. It was the speciality of her husband's ex-girlfriend. The recipe lasted longer than she did!

Time 30m

Yield 20 appetizers

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Drain and chop artichoke hearts.
  • Combine mayo, sour cream, and parmesan cheese.
  • Mix together artichoke hearts with mayo mixture in an oven safe glass pie dish Add garlic to taste.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Serve with crackers or pita bread.

Tips:

  • Use fresh artichokes. Fresh artichokes have a sweeter, more delicate flavor than canned or frozen artichokes. If you can't find fresh artichokes, use canned or frozen artichokes that have been packed in water, not oil.
  • Cook the artichokes until they are tender. Artichokes should be cooked until they are tender enough to easily pierce with a fork. If the artichokes are not cooked long enough, they will be tough and chewy.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. A combination of cheeses, such as Parmesan, mozzarella, and cream cheese, gives the dip a rich and flavorful taste. You can also use other types of cheeses, such as cheddar, Gruyère, or Fontina.
  • Add some herbs and spices. Herbs and spices, such as garlic, basil, oregano, and thyme, add flavor and depth to the dip. You can also add some crushed red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers. Artichokes dip can be served with a variety of dippers, such as chips, crackers, bread, or vegetables. You can also serve the dip as a spread on sandwiches or wraps.
