Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before starting, gather and measure all the ingredients and preheat the oven to the specified temperature to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use room temperature ingredients: When possible, use room temperature ingredients like butter, eggs, and milk. This allows them to blend more easily and evenly, resulting in a smoother batter and better texture.
  • Follow the recipe accurately: This recipe has been tested and perfected, so it's essential to follow the instructions precisely. Substituting ingredients or altering measurements can lead to unexpected results.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can develop the gluten in the flour, making the cake tough. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Use a toothpick test: To check if the cake is done, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Alternatively, you can use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
