Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 lb lean ground turkey
1/4 cup Coconut Aminos (Original)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro
2 tsp olive oil
Creamy Avocado Dressing & Dip
onion
tomato
lettuce

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients EXCEPT THE OLIVE OIL to a large bowl. Use your hands to combine ingredients.
  • Form into four patties. If you're not grilling immediately place the patties on a plate and cover with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. (Ground turkey is very soft and it will firm up the refrigerator. Don't let it sit out any longer than necessary.)
  • Heat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Brush olive oil on both sides of each burger. Gently place each patty on the grill.
  • Sear until brown, about 5 to 6 minutes. Do not flip your burger too early or it will fall apart. When it's sufficiently browned on one side, flip. Sear remaining side until browned and patty is cooked through, another 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from the grill and serve!

Yield Makes 6 burgers

Number Of Ingredients 18

2 pounds ground turkey, preferably a blend of thigh and breast meat
1/2 cup minced red onion
1/4 cup minced green onion, green parts only (about 1 scallion)
1 or 2 serrano peppers, minced, to taste
1 egg, whisked
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon hot paprika
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
6 burger buns or potato rolls, warmed in oven
1 cup grated Monterey jack cheese
12 small lettuce leaves
12 slices tomato
1 cup thinly sliced red onions
1 avocado, thinly sliced
1 recipe Emeril's Cilantro Mayonnaise, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill to medium high. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey with minced red onion, green onion, peppers, egg, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, paprika, coriander, and cumin. Divide mixture into 6 equal portions and, using your hands, shape into 6 burgers. Place burgers on grill and cook until just done and a thermometer inserted into the centers registers 165 degrees, about 3 minutes per side.
  • Serve burgers on buns with cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced red onions, and avocado. Garnish with Cilantro Mayonnaise.

Tips:

  • Choose ground turkey that is at least 93% lean. This will help to keep the burgers moist and prevent them from becoming dry.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices to flavor the burgers. This will give them a more complex and flavorful taste.
  • Don't overmix the turkey mixture. Overmixing can make the burgers tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help to prevent them from sticking to the grill.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the burgers. They are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite toppings.

Conclusion:

Emeril's turkey burgers with cilantro mayonnaise are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are easy to make and can be cooked on the grill or in a skillet. The cilantro mayonnaise adds a bright and refreshing flavor to the burgers. These burgers are perfect for a summer cookout or a casual weeknight meal.
