EL MACUA (COCKTAIL)

El Macua (Cocktail) image

! This fruity concoction was named el Macuá, after a tropical bird found in Central America an is the Nicaraguan national drink! The drink is one part white rum, one part guava juice, with a half-portion of lemon juice and some sugar and ice. Hopefully you can use Rum from Nicaragua but since I always have Bacardi on hand, that is what I used. I wasn't able to actually find the exact amounts for this drink. All of the recipes just said equal parts etc. Adjust this if you need to but keep the portions as stated above to keep it authentic!

Tips:

  • Choose fresh oranges for the best flavor. Navel oranges are a good option, as they are sweet and juicy.
  • Use a good quality mezcal. Mezcal is a smoky, flavorful spirit that is made from roasted agave. It is the key ingredient in this cocktail, so it is important to use a good quality mezcal.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprinkle of salt. This will add a touch of citrus and saltiness to the cocktail.
  • If you don't have mezcal, you can substitute tequila. Tequila is a similar spirit that is made from cooked agave. It will not have the same smoky flavor as mezcal, but it will still make a delicious cocktail.
  • Serve the cocktail immediately. This cocktail is best enjoyed fresh.

Conclusion:

The El Macua cocktail is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. If you are looking for a new cocktail to try, be sure to give the El Macua a try.
