Yield Makes 6 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 1/2 cups milk
5 large egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream, cold
3/4 cup vodka
1/2 cup Kahlua

Steps:

  • Fill a large bowl with ice and water, and set aside. Place 2 cups milk in a small saucepan set over medium-high heat, and bring to a boil. Place the egg yolks and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, and whip until pale and thick. Add the hot milk, whisking constantly, in a slow stream. Return the mixture to the pot, and cook, stirring constantly, over medium-low heat, until thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Immediately add 1 cup cream and the remaining 1 1/2 cups milk, and transfer mixture to the ice bath.
  • When ready to serve, add the vodka and Kahlua. Whip the remaining cup cream to soft peaks. Divide the eggnog among six cups, and garnish with whipped cream. Serve.

Tips for Making Eggnog Russian:

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh, high-quality ingredients whenever possible. This includes fresh milk, cream, eggs, and spices.
  • Chill the Ingredients: Before making the eggnog, chill the milk, cream, and eggs. This will help the eggnog to thicken properly and have a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Beat the Eggs and Sugar Together: In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until they are light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the eggnog, making it light and airy.
  • Gradually Add the Milk and Cream: Slowly add the milk and cream to the beaten eggs and sugar, whisking constantly. This will help to prevent the eggs from curdling.
  • Flavor the Eggnog: You can flavor the eggnog with a variety of spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. You can also add a splash of vanilla extract or rum for extra flavor.
  • Chill the Eggnog: After making the eggnog, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the eggnog to thicken.
  • Serve the Eggnog: Serve the eggnog chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg. You can also add a dollop of whipped cream or a candy cane for a festive touch.

Conclusion:

Eggnog Russian is a delicious and festive holiday drink that is easy to make at home. By following these tips, you can make the best eggnog Russian that your family and friends will love. Whether you are serving it at a holiday party or enjoying it as a special treat, eggnog Russian is sure to be a hit.
