3-INGREDIENT SMOKED MOZZARELLA STICKS

3-Ingredient Smoked Mozzarella Sticks image

Skip the mess of dredging and deep frying with these super-easy mozzarella sticks.

Provided by Molly Baz

Categories     3-Ingredient Recipes     Mozzarella     Fry     Appetizer     Vegetarian     Cheese Week

Number Of Ingredients 4

15 egg roll wrappers
1 pound smoked mozzarella, cut into 3x1/2" logs
Canola oil (for frying)
Kosher salt

Steps:

  • Arrange stack of egg roll wrappers on a clean work surface in front of you like a diamond. Working with one at a time, brush surface lightly with water. Place a mozzarella log across bottom third of diamond. Roll cheese up tightly in wrapper, tucking corners in halfway through. Seal edges, then repeat with remaining wrappers and cheese.
  • Pour oil into a large nonstick skillet to come 1/8" up sides; heat over medium-high until shimmering. Working in batches, fry mozzarella sticks, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to paper towels and season immediately with salt. Let cool slightly before serving.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh mozzarella cheese. Fresh mozzarella is softer and creamier than pre-shredded mozzarella, and it will melt better.
  • If you don't have an egg roll wrapper, you can use wonton wrappers instead. Wonton wrappers are smaller than egg roll wrappers, so you will need to use more of them to make the same amount of mozzarella sticks.
  • Be careful not to overfill the egg roll wrappers. If you overfill them, they will be difficult to seal and they may burst open during frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before you add the mozzarella sticks. If the oil is not hot enough, the mozzarella sticks will absorb the oil and become greasy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when you are frying the mozzarella sticks. If you overcrowd the pan, the mozzarella sticks will not cook evenly.
  • Serve the mozzarella sticks immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Egg roll mozzarella sticks are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you are looking for a fun and tasty snack, give this recipe a try.
