Time 5m

Yield 6-8 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/3 cup popcorn
2 -3 tablespoons melted butter
salt

Steps:

  • Pour kernels into a small paper bag (standard lunch size is fine) and fold the top of the bag over twice to close (each fold should be 1/2 inch deep; remember the kernals need room to pop).
  • Seal the bag with 2 staples placed 2 to 3 inches apart. (Editor's Note: Using metal staples in a microwave can be hazardous, please consider an alternate method).
  • Place bag in microwave on carousel. Cook on high 2-3 minutes, or until the pops are 5 seconds apart. Pour in melted butter and salt and shake the bag to distribute.

Tips:

  • Use fresh popcorn kernels. Older kernels are less likely to pop, and they may result in a lower yield of popcorn.
  • Use a large enough bowl. The popcorn will expand significantly as it pops, so make sure you have a bowl that is large enough to accommodate the expansion.
  • Don't overcrowd the bowl. If you put too many kernels in the bowl, they won't have enough room to pop properly.
  • Use high-quality butter. The better the butter, the better the popcorn will taste.
  • Don't burn the popcorn. Keep an eye on the popcorn while it's popping, and remove it from the microwave as soon as it starts to brown.
  • Season the popcorn to taste. You can add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or any other seasonings that you like.

Conclusion:

Making popcorn in the microwave is a quick and easy way to enjoy a delicious snack. By following the tips above, you can make sure that your popcorn turns out perfectly every time. So next time you're craving a snack, give this recipe a try!
