SPICY EDAMAME DIP
Steps:
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, roast the garlic, turning frequently, until light brown, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat, cool, and then slip off the skins. Set aside.
- Bring about 8 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan and drop in the beans. Bring back to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Reserve 3/4 cup of the cooking water before draining. Drain the beans and cool.
- Transfer the garlic into a food processor and chop coarsely. Add the beans, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt, pepper and process in the food processor. Add the olive oil, lime juice and cilantro and pulse to combine. Add the reserved water a little at a time while processing until smooth (you may not need to add all of the water). Use pita chips for dipping.

Tips:
- Choose Fresh Edamame: Select bright green edamame pods with plump beans inside. Avoid pods that are yellowed or have brown spots.
- Properly Prepare Edamame: Before cooking, remove the edamame beans from their pods. To do this, hold the pod in one hand and use your other hand to pinch the seam of the pod. Pull the seam open to release the beans.
- Cook Edamame Correctly: You can boil, steam, or microwave edamame. Boiling is the most common method and takes about 5-7 minutes. Steaming preserves more nutrients and takes about 8-10 minutes. Microwaving is the quickest method and takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Make a Flavorful Marinade: The marinade is key to adding flavor to the edamame dip. Experiment with different ingredients like soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and lime juice to create a marinade that suits your taste.
- Chill the Dip: After blending the edamame dip, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Choose a Variety of Crudités: Offer a variety of crudités to serve with the edamame dip. This could include carrot sticks, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, celery sticks, and broccoli florets.
Conclusion:
Edamame dip is a delicious and healthy appetizer or snack that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its vibrant green color and creamy texture, edamame dip is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. So next time you are looking for a healthy and flavorful dip, give edamame dip a try!
