EASY (AND TASTY) MEATLOAF

Easy (And Tasty) Meatloaf image

This is the meatloaf recipe my family has used my whole life. I love it! Of course, we have to double to whole recipe, using 2 to 3 pounds ground beef, the whole package of onion soup mix, and a 12 fluid ounce can of Carnation evaporated milk. This is good with baked potatoes and some Bush's baked beans. (or any other vegetables: corn, peas...) I hope you like it!

Time 55m

Yield 5-7 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons dry onion soup mix
1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk (2/3 cup)
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In 8 by 4 inch loaf pan, combine first 3 ingredients; mix well (mixture will be very moist) Press evenly in pan.
  • Combine brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup in a small bowl. (We seem to double -- or triple the topping- It is so good!) Spoon over mixture.
  • Bake for 45 minutes.
  • Using spatulas, lift meat loaf from pan to a serving plate. (Because it will be in lots of liquid, mostly water if using lean ground beef).
  • Enjoy!

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb ground beef
1 1/2 pkg dry italian seasoning salad dressing, like good seasons or any brand you prefer(more or less as you prefer)
1 c bread crumbs, seasoned
1 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium bowl add the bread crumbs, italian seasoning (more or less, depending on your preference) and milk. Let stand until the bread crumbs are moist, about 5 minutes.
  • 2. Add ground beef to bread crumb mixture. Mix until all ingredients are combined. Form into 1 large or two individual loaves. Sprinkle top of meatloaf with bread crumbs and 1 or 2 pats of butter cut into cubes(depending on the size of the loaf that you make:this step is optional)
  • 3. Preheat oven to 350. Cook meatloaf at 350 for 15 minutes, then lower heat to 325 and continue baking for another 35-40 minutes or until meat juices run clear.
  • 4. Maybe served with or without your favorite gravy.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Meat: A combination of ground beef and pork or ground turkey and pork results in a flavorful and moist meatloaf.
  • Seasoning is Key: Use a blend of herbs and spices like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried parsley, salt, and pepper to enhance the flavor of the meatloaf.
  • Don't Overmix: Overmixing the meatloaf mixture can result in a tough texture. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Shape and Bake: Shape the meatloaf mixture into an oval shape and place it in a baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Glaze for Color and Flavor: Brush the meatloaf with a glaze made from ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard during the last 15 minutes of baking for a glossy and flavorful crust.
  • Let it Rest: Before slicing and serving, let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a tender and juicy meatloaf.

Conclusion:

The presented recipes provide various options for creating a delicious and satisfying meatloaf. Whether you prefer a classic meatloaf, one with a flavorful glaze, or a healthier version with ground turkey, there's a recipe here to suit your taste. Remember to carefully select the meat, season it well, avoid overmixing, bake it until it reaches the desired internal temperature, and let it rest before slicing. By following these tips and choosing the recipe that suits your preferences, you'll be able to prepare a mouthwatering meatloaf that will be a hit with your family and friends.
