This is my favorite, very simple, recipe for savory scones. They are wonderful served hot, spread with a little butter, and eaten alongside a steamy hot soup. It's important not to over handle these scones, as they will be heavy and tough.

EASY APPLE CINNAMON WALNUT SCONES

Easy Apple Cinnamon Walnut Scones image

I made these up this morning when we were looking for a different flavour of scone for breakfast. I forgot to put sugar in the scones, so I sprinkled the top with Demmara Sugar - and I like them better that way! It adds a nice crunch on top. These are not your typical buttery scone - these are more of a hearty, healthy, and hold you till lunch kind of scone! If you don't have cinnamon chips, add a tbsp or two of brown sugar and increase the cinnamon to 1 tsp to compensate.

EASY BLUEBERRY ALMOND SCONES

Easy Blueberry Almond Scones image

Inspired by Lalalous's recipe #371363, this simple scone recipe is so easy, you can make it in the morning before work! Raspberries work well, too - use almond extract if you're using rapberries! I use frozen berries (the individually frozen kind, not the kind in syrup) for these, and I like my berries, so my scoop of berries is more like a heaping 1/2 cup!

Provided by Katzen

Categories     Scones

Time 20m

Yield 4 Scones, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup flour
1/4 cup oats
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon oil
1/3 cup blueberries
2 tablespoons sugar (use more if you like your scones sweet)
1 teaspoon vanilla powder or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/3-1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F.
  • In a bowl mix together flour, oats, baking powder, sugar and vanilla powder (if using vanilla extract, add with milk). Add oil and stir to combine.
  • Fold in blueberries and almonds.
  • Add milk (and vanilla extract) and stir to combine. If it is too sticky add more flour, if it is too dry add some more milk.
  • Pat out dough on a floured surface and cut or shape scones of desired size. I often shape dough into a large circle, and cut into triangles for a traditional shape.
  • Place on a paper-lined baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes until baked through and golden brown.

SUPER EASY SCONES

Super Easy Scones image

This very simple scone recipe has just three ingredients! It's great for beginners and those who don't feel like fiddling with more complex scone recipes. This type of scone recipe is quite common in Australia. Serve warm with the topping of your choice. In my family, we love scones with cream and fresh strawberries, but they're great with butter and jam, or anything else you want to try.
