Tips:

  • To make sure the peanut chews set properly, use a candy thermometer to measure the temperature of the sugar mixture. The mixture should reach 235 degrees Fahrenheit (113 degrees Celsius) before removing it from the heat.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the sugar mixture by dropping a small amount into a glass of cold water. If the mixture forms a soft ball that holds its shape, it is ready.
  • Work quickly when pouring the sugar mixture onto the peanuts. The mixture will start to set quickly, so you need to work quickly to spread it out evenly.
  • If the sugar mixture is too thick to spread, add a little bit of corn syrup or water. Don't add water to hot sugar syrup because that might cause the sugar to crystallize.
  • Let the peanut chews cool completely before cutting them. This will help prevent them from crumbling.
  • Store the peanut chews in an airtight container at room temperature. They will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

These easy salted peanut chews are a delicious and nostalgic treat. They are perfect for snacking, sharing, or giving as gifts. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these peanut chews at home. So next time you are looking for a sweet treat, give these easy salted peanut chews a try.
