HOMESTYLE HAMBURGER RICE BAKE

Homestyle Hamburger Rice Bake image

There are just some dishes that once you have tasted the first bite, take you back to childhood in a snap. My Grandfather would use a combination of breakfast sausage and ground beef while my mom always used a full pound of ground beef. Either way, this is a wonderful dish. It would surprise me to hear if anyone had any leftover for lunch the next day.

EASY AND QUICK HAMBURGER AND RICE DINNER

Easy and Quick Hamburger and Rice Dinner image

This is a fast dinner. I usually have all of the ingredients on hand for a last minute supper. You can get creative and doctor this up a bit by adding green pepper or other vegetables.

Provided by Jenny Frenny

Categories     White Rice

Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb hamburger
1 yellow onions, chopped or 1 tablespoon dried onion
2 cups cooked white rice
1 (4 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
salt and pepper
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger and onion over medium heat in a large skillet (one with a lid). Drain off excess fat.
  • Add the rice, tomato, water, salt and pepper. Mix well and cover pan with lid. Simmer on low for 10 minutes.
  • Check halfway to see if you feel it needs a few tablespoons of water added. Stir and then sprinkle the cheese over top. Don't mix in, allow to melt over top while it finishes simmering.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your dish will taste. Look for fresh, flavorful vegetables, high-quality ground beef, and long grain rice.
  • Brown the beef and vegetables before adding the rice: This will help to develop flavor and prevent the rice from becoming mushy.
  • Use a non-stick skillet: This will help to prevent the rice and beef from sticking to the pan.
  • Cook the rice according to the package directions: Different types of rice have different cooking times, so be sure to follow the instructions on the package.
  • Season the dish to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. You can also add a bit of chili powder or cumin for a Mexican-inspired flavor.

Conclusion:

This easy rice and hamburger one-dish dinner is a quick and easy weeknight meal that the whole family will enjoy. It's also a great way to use up leftover rice and ground beef. With just a few simple ingredients, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal on the table in no time.
