Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh pasta, real butter, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese will make a world of difference in the flavor of your pasta Alfredo.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package directions, or slightly al dente (still slightly firm to the bite).
  • Make sure the sauce is thick and creamy: The sauce should be thick enough to coat the pasta, but not so thick that it's gloopy. If the sauce is too thin, add more grated Parmesan cheese or a little bit of cornstarch slurry (equal parts cornstarch and water).
  • Season the sauce to taste: Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. You can also add a pinch of nutmeg or cayenne pepper for a little extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately: Pasta Alfredo is best served immediately after it's made. If you need to make it ahead of time, reheat it gently over low heat, stirring constantly.
