STEAK WITH GARLIC BUTTER RECIPE BY TASTY

Steak With Garlic Butter Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: thick rib eye steak, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, canola oil, butter, fresh thyme, fresh rosemary, garlic

Provided by Tasty

Categories     Dinner

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb thick rib eye steak, 1 inch (2 cm) thick
2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
4 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons butter
2 sprigs fresh thyme
2 bunches fresh rosemary
2 cloves garlic, crushed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • Season the steak evenly with the salt and pepper on all sides.
  • Place the steak on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes.
  • Heat the canola oil in a skillet or stainless steel pan over high heat until smoking. Sear the steak on one side for 30 seconds, then flip.
  • Immediately, add the butter, thyme, rosemary, and garlic, swirling the pan to melt the butter quickly.
  • Place the herbs and garlic on top of the steak, and push the steak toward the top of the pan. Tilt the pan toward you to pool the butter near the bottom. Using a spoon, continuously scoop the butter over the top of the steak for about 30-45 seconds.
  • This helps not only flavor the steak, but also helps cook the steak faster. If you prefer your steak medium or medium-well, cook your steak longer.
  • To test the doneness of your steak, lightly press the tip of your left index finger to the tip of your left thumb. The fleshy area below the thumb should feel how rare steak feels pressing the surface of the steak. For medium-rare steak, touch your middle finger to your thumb and press the area below your thumb. For medium, touch your fourth finger to your thumb. For well done, touch your pinky to your thumb.
  • Rest the steak for 10 minutes on a cutting board. Slice, then serve!
  • Enjoy!

EASY PAN STEAKS

Easy Pan Steaks image

Categories     main-dish

Time 35m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
Coarse sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Two 8-ounce filet mignon steaks

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 450 F. Heat the butter and olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add in the sprigs of rosemary as your pan is heating. Salt and pepper the meat to your liking (I recommend a generous pinch of each, which is a THREE-finger pinch.)
  • When the butter has melted and the oil is heated, add your steaks to the pan to get a nice golden-brown sear on them. This should take about 2 minutes on each side. Then place your pan in the oven until the steaks are cooked to your preference, 7 to 9 minutes. (Eight minutes makes a perfect medium, my favorite!)
  • Allow the meat to rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving. These rosemary-infused steaks are nothing short of delicious.

PAN-SEARED STEAKS

Pan-Seared Steaks image

Pan-searing is the best way to cook a steak, and it's also the easiest!

Provided by Jennifer Segal

Categories     Dinner

Time 10m

Yield 2 to 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (12-oz) New York strip or ribeye steaks or 4 (6-oz) filet mignons, about 1½ inches thick
1 heaping teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
A few sprigs fresh thyme leaves

Steps:

  • To begin, pat the steaks dry with paper towels.
  • Season the steaks all over with the salt and pepper.
  • Turn on your exhaust fan and heat a heavy pan (preferably cast iron or stainless steel) over medium-high heat until it's VERY hot.
  • Add the oil to the pan and heat until it begins to shimmer and move fluidly around the pan.
  • Carefully set the steaks in the pan, releasing them away from you so the oil doesn't splatter in your direction. The oil should sizzle.
  • Leave the steaks alone! Avoid the temptation to peek or fiddle or flip repeatedly; the steaks need a few minutes undisturbed to develop a golden crust. Flip the steaks when they release easily and the bottom is a deep-brown color, about 3 minutes. Continue to cook the steaks for another 3 to 4 minutes on the second side for rare to medium-rare. (For medium, cook 4 to 5 minutes on second side; for well-done, cook 5 to 6 minutes on second side).
  • During the last minute of cooking, add the butter and thyme sprigs to the pan with the steaks.
  • If you are serving the steaks unsliced, transfer them to plates and serve hot. If you plan to slice the steaks, transfer them to a cutting board and let rest, covered with aluminum foil, for 5 to 10 minutes; then slice thinly against the grain.

SIMPLE SIRLOIN STEAK

Simple sirloin steak image

Master the art of cooking the perfect sirloin steak for truly tender meat and you'll never look back. Serve with chunky chips and salad for a weekend treat

Provided by Barney Desmazery

Categories     Dinner, Main course, Treat

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 sirloin steaks, each about 200g and 2cm thick
1 tbsp sunflower oil
1 tbsp butter
1 garlic clove, left whole but bashed once
sprig of thyme or rosemary (optional)

Steps:

  • Remove the steaks from the fridge about 30 mins before you plan to cook, so they're closer to room temperature. Pat the steaks dry with kitchen paper, and season with salt and pepper. Take a heavy-based frying pan that will comfortably fit both steaks, add the oil and heat over a high flame.
  • When the oil is shimmering, turn the heat down to medium-high and add the butter. Once it's sizzling, carefully lay the steaks in the pan, tucking the garlic and herbs in at the sides.
  • With a pair of tongs, sear and turn the steaks every 30 secs to 1 min so they get a nice brown crust. As a rough guide, each steak will take 3 mins in total for rare, 4-5 mins in total for medium and 7-8 mins for well done. If you have a digital cooking thermometer, the middle of the steak should be 50C for rare, 60C for medium and 70C for well done.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of steak: For pan-searing, choose a steak that is at least 1 inch thick and has a good amount of marbling. Some good options include ribeye, strip, and tenderloin.
  • Season the steak liberally: Before cooking, season the steak generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Sear the steak in a hot pan: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the steak and sear for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the steak is browned and crusty.
  • Reduce the heat and cook the steak to your desired doneness: Once the steak is seared, reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook the steak for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the steak reaches your desired doneness.
  • Let the steak rest before slicing: After cooking, let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Pan-searing is a quick and easy way to cook a delicious and flavorful steak. By following these tips, you can ensure that your pan-seared steak is cooked to perfection every time.
