Time 45m

Yield 12 rolls, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 ounces active dry yeast (2 packages)
2/3 cup warm low-fat milk (105-110 F)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Spray a 12-cup muffin pan with vegetable cooking spray. Set aside. In a small bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm milk. Let stand until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  • Stir yeast mixture, oil, and egg into flour mixture until a dough forms.
  • To prepare filling, in a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  • On a lightly floured surface, knead dough for 5 minutes. Divide dough in half. Roll each half to a 12x9-inch rectangle.
  • Sprinkle each rectangle with half of the filling, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Lightly press filling into dough. Starting with a short side, roll up dough, jelly-roll style. Cut each piece into 6 rolls. Place rolls in prepared pan. Cover; let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Place on a wire rack and cool slightly. Serve warm.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will produce the best-tasting coffee rolls. Use a good quality butter, milk, and flour.
  • Make sure your yeast is fresh: Old or inactive yeast will not produce enough gas to make the coffee rolls rise properly. If you are unsure if your yeast is fresh, you can test it by adding it to a small bowl of warm water with a pinch of sugar. If the yeast is fresh, it will foam up within a few minutes.
  • Knead the dough properly: Kneading the dough develops the gluten, which makes it elastic and strong. This will help the coffee rolls rise properly and have a tender texture.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. You can place the dough in a warm oven or in a warm spot in your kitchen.
  • Do not overproof the dough: Overproofing the dough will make the coffee rolls too light and airy, and they will not have a good flavor. The dough is ready to bake when it has doubled in size.
  • Bake the coffee rolls at a high temperature: The high temperature will create a crispy crust and a soft, fluffy interior.
  • Frost the coffee rolls while they are still warm: This will help the frosting melt and soak into the rolls.

Conclusion:

These easy morning coffee rolls are the perfect way to start your day. They are soft, fluffy, and have a delicious cinnamon sugar filling. With a few simple tips, you can make these coffee rolls at home that are sure to impress your family and friends.
