Tips:
- Generously season your chicken: Chicken is a mild-flavored protein, so don't be shy with the seasonings. A flavorful rub made with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper will help the chicken taste its best.
- Sear the chicken before baking: Searing the chicken before baking helps to lock in the juices and create a golden brown crust. If you're using a cast iron skillet, heat it over medium-high heat before adding the chicken. Be sure to sear the chicken in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Use a variety of vegetables: This casserole is a great way to use up leftover vegetables. Feel free to mix and match your favorites. Some good options include carrots, celery, potatoes, peas, and corn.
- Make sure the sauce is thick enough: The sauce should be thick enough to coat the chicken and vegetables without being too runny. If the sauce is too thin, it will make the casserole watery.
- Don't overcook the casserole: The chicken should be cooked through, but not overcooked. Overcooked chicken will be dry and tough. The casserole is done when the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
Conclusion:
This easy lattice top chicken casserole is a delicious and comforting meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. Just follow the tips above and you'll be sure to have a great-tasting casserole.
