Sauerkraut, topped with kielbasa, swiss cheese and buttermilk biscuits. Rinsing mellows the sauerkraut. A mayonnaise-horseradish sauce gives it a zippy new flavor that blends well with the sausage and cheese.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 45m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (13 ounce) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons horseradish
1 lb smoked kielbasa, sliced 1/2 inch thick
2 cups shredded swiss cheese
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine sauerkraut, mayonnaise and horseradish and spread in the bottom of an 8x8-inch greased casserole.
  • Add kielbasa, top with cheese and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Place biscuits on top and bake 13-15 minutes more.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor, texture, and nutrients to your casserole. Some good options include potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and peas.
  • Don't overcrowd the casserole dish: This will prevent the ingredients from cooking evenly. If you have a lot of ingredients, consider using a larger casserole dish or baking the casserole in batches.
  • Bake the casserole until it is bubbly and the cheese is melted: This will ensure that the casserole is cooked through and the cheese is gooey and delicious.
  • Serve the casserole hot: This is when it will be at its best. You can garnish the casserole with fresh herbs, sour cream, or salsa.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa casserole is a hearty and delicious dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give kielbasa casserole a try. You won't be disappointed!
