Steps:
- 1. First season the potatoes. Heat oil in a 10 inch frying pan. Add in the potatoes to cook & stir constantly for about 5 mins over medium heat.
- 2. Press them flat with a turner. Cook over low heat, then shake pan a few times until bottom is golden brown.
- 3. Fold potato in half & serve warm.
Tips:
- Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for hash browns because they are starchy and will hold their shape well when shredded.
- Shred the potatoes evenly: This will help them cook evenly.
- Don't overcrowd the pan: If you overcrowd the pan, the hash browns will steam instead of fry and will not be crispy.
- Cook the hash browns over medium heat: This will help them cook evenly without burning.
- Flip the hash browns frequently: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
- Season the hash browns to taste: You can use salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or any other seasonings you like.
- Serve the hash browns immediately: They are best when served hot and crispy.
Conclusion:
Hash browns are a delicious and versatile dish that can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect hash browns every time.
