Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

12 ounces (3 large or 4 to 6 small) clementine oranges, frozen (see below*)
10 ounces frozen mixed berries
2 cups dry red wine (we used Rioja Tempranillo)
2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
1 orange, cut into slices for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel and section the clementine oranges and pop them in the freezer.
  • Blend together the frozen clementine oranges with the berries, red wine, and honey, stopping to scrape down the sides as necessary.
  • Serve in glasses garnished with orange slices. Best served immediately. (If you do have leftovers you can freeze for a few hours, but the texture becomes thicker. We don't recommend freezing overnight: so plan on making a batch right when you plan to serve it!)

FROZEN SANGRIA

Frozen Sangria image

Sangria is a drink from Spain and Portugal, traditionally made with red wine, brandy and fruit. Ree makes her own version using rosé wine and coconut-flavored rum. She blends in ice for a 'slushy' consistency.

Provided by Ree Drummond Bio & Top Recipes

Categories     beverage

Time P1DT10m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1/4 cup orange juice
One 750-milliliter bottle rosé wine
2 1/2 cups strawberries
3/4 cup coconut-flavored rum
1/4 cup superfine sugar
Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

Steps:

  • The day before, add the blueberries, raspberries, orange juice, 1 cup of the wine, 1 cup of the strawberries and 1/4 cup of the rum to a medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours to marinate. Transfer the remaining 1 1/2 cups strawberries to a freezer-safe storage bag and place in the freezer for 24 hours.
  • Reserve 1/2 cup of the mixed berries for garnish. Add the remaining mixed berries and all the liquid to a blender, top with the sugar, 4 cups ice, the frozen strawberries and remaining wine and rum and blend until smooth (or do in batches if necessary). Serve immediately with a spoonful of the reserved boozy fruit and a sprig of mint.

Tips:

  • Use frozen fruit: Frozen fruit is a great way to make sangria because it's already cold and doesn't water down the drink.
  • Add some sparkling water: Sparkling water adds a nice fizz to sangria and makes it more refreshing.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit: Garnish your sangria with fresh fruit for a beautiful presentation.
  • Make it ahead of time: Sangria is a great drink to make ahead of time because it gets better with time. You can make it up to 3 days in advance.
  • Serve chilled: Serve your sangria chilled for a refreshing drink.

Conclusion:

Frozen sangria is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. Whether you like it sweet, tart, or somewhere in between, there's a frozen sangria recipe out there for you. So next time you're looking for a fun and festive drink, give frozen sangria a try. You won't be disappointed!
