ABSOLUTELY ULTIMATE POTATO SOUP

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup image

I have made this for many whom have given it the title. This takes a bit of effort but is well worth it. Please note: for those who do not wish to use bacon, substitute 1/4 cup melted butter for the bacon grease and continue with the recipe. (I generally serve this soup as a special treat as it is not recommended for people counting calories.)

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or russet potatoes are best for this soup, as they break down easily and create a creamy texture.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes: Cook them just until they are tender, but not mushy. Overcooked potatoes will make the soup gluey.
  • Use good quality chicken broth: The flavor of the broth will shine through in the soup, so use a good quality broth that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Don't be afraid to add your own seasonings: The recipe is a great starting point, but feel free to add your own favorite seasonings to taste. Some good options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Serve the soup with your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings include shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, chives, and sour cream.

Conclusion:

Cream of potato soup is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a delicious and creamy soup that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this cream of potato soup recipe a try.
